Welcome to the Web site of the DIESEL TRACTION GROUP (DTG). The purpose of this web site is to promote an interest in Diesel Hydraulic locomotives and to keep you informed of the events and railtours that D1015 WESTERN CHAMPION will be involved in. Western Champion is currently the the only mainline registered heritage diesel hydraulic locomotive working in the uk. 

The locomotive, British Railways Class 52 D1015 Western Champion, is owned by the D T G and operated on Network Rail tracks across the UK, in partnership with such companies as Pathfinder 2006, Riviera Trains and EWS.

DTG Sales Stand Confirmed at Minehead for West Somerset Railway Late Summer Weekend GWR 175 The Penultimate Act - 4th September.
Unfortunately after completing it's 50th mainline tour D1015 suffered an engine failure on the ECS working back to Eastleigh. The result is that the loco is out of traffic with immediate effect and is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future. It is with regret therefore that any further planned railtour commitments in 2010 cannot be met. We will try and keep you up to date with further developments and hope that D1015 can be returned to traffic as soon as possible. The DTG engineers now face a daunting and expensive task to restore D1015 to full health, for those who wish to make a contribution towards this onerous task please visit the DTG Sales Page and click on D1015 Engine Contributions to make a contribution.
